Joung-woo John Kim, M.A., Psy.D.

Dr. Joung-woo John Kim received his master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy and Psy.D. from Southern California Seminary, where his thesis was on marital satisfaction.

In addition to his clinical experience, Dr. Kim has many years of pastoral counseling with youth and adults in Christian settings after he received Master of Divinity from Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary. In his previous careers and education, he was involved in the fields of engineering and patent law, having received Bachelor of Engineering from Seoul National University in Korea, Master of Science in computer science from University of Pennsylvania, and Ph.D. in computer science from University of Southern California, giving him expertise in stress and anxiety related to Academic and Career Planning and Life Transitions.

He has lived in Korea and the U.S., and is fluent in both Korean and English, making him also versed in stress stemming from cross-cultural issues.

Dr. Kim is an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist and practices at La Vie under the supervision of Ricky V. Jackson, LMFT #83813.
