Important! Your appointment request is subject to therapist availability and further confirmation.
Hello and welcome! My name is Andrew Perez, Marriage and Family Therapy/Professional Clinical Counseling Trainee. I try my best to use therapy as a tool to help you live a healthier, happier life. My main goal is to provide support, positive regard, and help initiate desired change and growth in your life. In our sessions, I hope to be kind, empathetic, and create a relaxed, casual environment. I take a Psychodynamic approach (systematic, exploratory and relational) while remaining open to goal-oriented and solution-based techniques as needed. Together, we can explore what strategies work for you to be more productive, process complicated life events, manage stress, and implement different coping skills to help you work through life’s many challenges.
Before beginning my journey as a therapist, I was a high school teacher, youth minister, and long-time basketball coach, allowing for lots of practice in working with athletes, teens, young adults, parents and families. As a proud First-Generation Filipino-American, I am particularly passionate about creating harmony and understanding in immigrant and intercultural families. I am also certified in Prepare-Enrich, a program to help cultivate more fulfilling relationships for pre-marital and married couples.
In my free time, I love to play golf, watch my Lakers play, listen to music, try new restaurants, and keep up with all the latest Marvel movies and shows. I am passionate about my faith and relationship with Jesus Christ. My hope is to follow His example by caring for those who are weary and burdened. If desired, spirituality can be integrated into our sessions, but will never be forced upon you. This experience is what you choose to make of it. My job is to listen to you.
I attend Mount Saint Mary’s University, where I’ll be receiving my Masters in both Marriage and Family Therapy and Professional Clinical Counseling in May, 2025. I am supervised by Kelsey Sima, #MFT118483 and Guillermo Ulloa, #MFC-53213.
